- Fresh peaches are picked firm-ripe in order to transport without bruising or flat-spotting.
- Do not refrigerate firm peaches until they are soft unless you prefer to eat firm peaches.
- Soften firm peaches by spreading peaches a few inches apart on a flat cloth with the stems down and the tips up for about two days at room temperature.
- Soft peaches are good for about three days at room temperature or about a week in a refrigerator.
- Slice and freeze soft peaches to maintain peak flavor for months.
